FALL YOUTH INSTRUCTIONAL ACADEMY

The Youth Instructional Academy is a foundational and instructional program for K-8th grade beginner lacrosse players. Our goal for the program is for athletes to develop a love for the game of lacrosse, and learn proper fundamentals of lacrosse and athletic movement. Training will be led by our professional coaches.

WHO WE ARE

Mclean Youth Lacrosse is a professionally coached youth lacrosse organization in Northern Virginia. MYL provides developmental and competitive lacrosse programs to boys and girls of all skill and age levels. McLean Youth Lacrosse offers programs ranging from Spring Rec Teams, Box Teams, Box Leagues, Year-Round Club Teams, Training, Camps, and Clinics.

Courtney Hamm

Courtney Hamm was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina where she was a 4 year varsity lacrosse starter at Wakefield High School.  As team captain her senior year, Courtney led Wakefield to its first  conference championship, and a #10 ranking in the state. With 74 goals in her senior season, she secured 1st team all conference honors and was ranked the #12 player in North Carolina. At the club level Courtney played with Carolina Fever Lacrosse Club. 

Courtney continued  her education and lacrosse career at Ferrum College where she became one of the most decorated athletes in Ferrum history. In her Freshmen Campaign Courtney was named to the USA College Rookie All-American Team. Courtney went on to be a 4x USA South All-Conference Team Selection, an All Tournament team selection, a VaSID All-State selection, and received multiple Player of The Week honor. She remains on top of the Ferrum record books as she holds the records for Goals Scored in a Season (67), Goals Scored in a Career (256),  and Game-Winning Goals in a Career (14)

Courtney has served as an Assistant Coach for West Virginia Wesleyan (NCAA D2), Kenyon College (NCAA D3), and UVA-Wise (NCAA D2). During her time at UVA-Wise the Cavaliers went on to win back-to-back conference regular season, and conference tournament championships (2018 & 2019), while also posting a program record of 13  wins. Most recently, Courtney worked with the National Scouting Report as a Lacrosse Scout. ​

Brian Beatson
Boys lacrosse director
Brian Beatson grew up in Falls Church, Virginia where he played ice Hockey and lacrosse at W.T. Woodson High School.  While at Woodson, Brian was named 1st Team All-District, 1st team All-Region, and a 2nd Team All-American.
​
He went on to play JUCO Lacrosse at Community College Baltimore County (CCBC) Where he won two Region XX titles and made it to the JUCO National championship. After graduating from Essex CC, he went on to play NCAA Division II Lacrosse and Ice Hockey at Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut. While at Post University for two seasons he collected 56 points in 29 games played. Brian was also selected to the NEILA Senior All Star Game in Braintree, MA. In 2016 Brian received his degree in Sport Management from Post University.

Upon returning to Virginia after graduation Brian has been pursuing his coaching career helping with various club teams in Northern Virginia. Brian has also been coaching with the Junior Varsity lacrosse team at St. Stephens St. Agnes school in Alexandria, VA. ​
