FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Who will be coaching my son?
A: All MYL teams will be led by professional coaches, however, we will also need volunteer assistant coaches for each team. If you are interested in being a volunteer coach, please CLICK HERE and follow the registration.
Q: When are games?
A: Boys regular season games are usually played on Saturdays. However, due to scheduling and field availability, games could be either day. Games begin in late March and will run through late May. No games will be played Easter weekend.
Q: When are practices?
A: All teams will have 2 practices/week at a local McLean field beginning in March. Schedules will be available in late February.
Q: Where are games and practices?
A: Home games will be played at McLean High School, and practices will be played at a local McLean field TBD. Away games will be at various locations in Northern Virginia.
Q: What equipment does my son need?
A: Lacrosse Stick, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, mouthguard, protective cup, rib pads (optional), and decent lacrosse/football cleats.
Q: Can my son play Travel/Club Lacrosse and play for MYL?
A: Yes! We understand that many of our players play both club and rec lacrosse. With that being said, some club players may have significant commitments throughout the rec season and at the end, during playoffs. We are aware of these circumstances and while we are hopeful and expect to be able to manage most of these conflicts throughout the season, there may be times where conflicts are unavoidable. We do not anticipate the NVYLL adjusting its post-season playoff schedule. As such, we expect to have an unavoidable conflict with those teams that make the NVYLL Championship weekend. Unfortunately, given club team commitments, that could result in MYL teams having to forfeit the final championship round. We want all families to be aware of this, in advance, so they can decide what is best for their family from the onset.
